Randy Couture, aka "The Natural," is synonymous with perseverance and determination. Along with Chuck Liddell, Couture is credited for bringing mixed martial arts into the mainstream of American sports and pop culture.


He is a three-time former heavyweight champion, two-time former light-heavyweight champion, former interim light heavyweight champion and UFC 13 tournament winner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the first fighter to hold two UFC championship titles in two different divisions (heavyweight and light heavyweight). Couture has competed in a record 15 title fights. He holds the most title reigns in the UFC with five. His last fight with Lyoto Machida put him in a tie with Matt Hughes for having the highest number of fights in the UFC at 24. Couture is one of the first members of the UFC Hall of Fame, and is the only athlete in UFC history to win a championship after being inducted. He is also the oldest titleholder ever, in the UFC and MMA.

In addition to his wrestling moves, Couture has displayed a variety of skills in Boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

His many accolades and awards include being named Black Belt Magazine's 1997 Full-Contact Competitor of the Year, having Inside Fight's 2009 Fight of the Year, Wrestling Observer's 2003 Most Outstanding Fighter, MMA Most Valuable Fighter (2007), MMA Most Valuable Fighter of the Decade (2000–2009), 2001 Fight of the Year, 2007 Fight of the Year and was honored at the World MMA Awards with an award for Outstanding Contribution to MMA.

Even though Couture has retired from fighting in the UFC, he is still considered by many to be the most popular fighter in MMA history. His passion for the sport continues today and was very apparent when Beyond the Cage met with Couture at his Las Vegas gym to present to him the first fine art line to bear his image, which he absolutely loved. Couture owns a variety of training camps and gyms through out the country.
